Incident to an extensive exhibition of the work of Vigfús Sigurgeirsson, photographer and filmmaker, that was held in the National Museum of Iceland in 2008, the museum published the book The Nation, the Country and the Republic – Vigfús Sigurgeirsson, photographer and filmmaker. Vigfús was one of the foremost photographers in Iceland during the middle of the 20 th century and a pioneer in Icelandic filmmaking, his contribution to the cultural history of Iceland was therefore great.
The book includes five articles by various specialists:
