Saumur II. Floral embroidery on a costume skirt believed to have been made and worn by Guðrún Skúladóttir (1740-1816), daughter of Treasurer Skúli Magnússon, known as the “father of Reykjavík,“ and his wife Steinunn Björnsdóttir. Guðrún was renowned for her needlework.
Beautiful design on black cotton fabric, the pattern is machine-sewn into the fabric with quality string. Size 40x75 cm.
Saumur ( means stitching) is textile line for the Museum shop. The products are stitched with string of wool from an old stitching patterns, that are preserved at the Nationa Museum.
