Beautiful embroidery that contains an interesting pattern based on the visual books of previous centuries.
This pattern is from a sewing book from the 17th century which has been named after Ragnheiður Jónsdóttir (1646–1715), bishop of Hólar in Hjaltadalur. The book contains many patterns intended for needlework and is preserved in the National Museum of Iceland. Knots of various types were common in needlework here before.
