Painter Sigurður Guðmundsson (1829-1874) was a prominent artist and designer in the modern sense of the word. He was influential in national arts and sciences and pioneered the establishment of the National Museum of Iceland (1863).

Sigurður designed a new national costume for Icelandic women in the 19th century, which is still used today. The pattern on the napkins is taken from an embroidery pattern he drew for the costumes, but the model for that is Icelandic herbs.

The napkins come in bone-white with a gold or silver pattern.
