Amateur photography was a passion with Þorstein Jósepsson (1907-1967) journalist and writer. Þorsteinn went around the country and photographed, and his photography was intertwined with his travels and work within the Ferðafélag Íslands – Touring Club of Iceland.
Photos by Þorsteinn appeared on the front pages of weeklies and of the Vísir newspaper and on the covers of numerous books in the middle of the 20th century and made him well known nation wide.
In this book Steinar Örn Atlason, philosopher, discusses the photography of Þorsteinn and his life. It is a sort of novelty how Steinar applies short texts relating to individual photographs from the Þorsteinn collection where Steinar asks questions about the subject matter of the photographs and the photos are put in a cultural - historical as well as in a philosophical context.
