The book was published in conjunction with an exhibit of the same title, of the photographs taken by Pétur Thomsen in the photo gallery of the National Museum of Iceland in 2011.
Pétur is one of the foremost photographers of his generation. The book has a good selection of photos from a contemporary project that Pétur Thomsen, photographer, carried out with the financial support of the National Museum of Iceland. Pétur’s photographs show the neighbourhood Ásfjall in Hafnarfjörður after the construction work came to a stop following the economic collapse in 2008.
There is an article by Sigrún Sigurðardóttir that discusses Pétur’s photographs and the foreword is written by Margrét Hallgrímsdóttir the director of the National Museum. Text is in Icelandic and English
