The book was published in conjunction with the exhibition of the embroidery of Guðrún Guðmundsdóttir in the National Museum of Iceland in 2010. The exhibition featured Guðrún´s embroidery which she created using old manuscrips and ancient embroidered clothing as models.
Guðrún´s embroidery is impressive and it has strong connotations to the artistic heritage and national traditions of the Icelanders. These are examples of how Icelandic women in the present time utilise the cultuaral heritage and they demonstrate nicely how tradition and innovation merge.
