The original ring was completely gold-plated before it got lost. It is probably from late middle ages.

Decorated on the outside with attached decoration, caned with gothic A on.

This ring was found in vegetable garden in Viðey, where it is believed that the monastery stood and is believed to be of Catholic tradition.

It was sent to the National Museum in Copenhagen by Bishop Steingrímur Jónsson in Laugarnes in 1843 as a gift from Ólafur Stephensen, secretary in Viðey.
