The original key was found in an excavation at Skriðuklaustur in Fljótsdalshreppur. The beautiful key is made of bronze mixture and is now preserved at the National Museum of Iceland.
The key was found in the church in the remains of wood, which according to analysis were made of a linden tree and could have been from a small chest.

This replica is made by Ingi Bjarnason an Icelandic Goldsmith that founded the well-known Jewelry brand Sign.

Oxidized silve, is silver that has been darkened, it is good to wipe it. But don't dip it.
