Advent in the Highlands \u2013 Photography Book by Sigurj\u00f3n P\u00e9tursson and \u00de\u00f3ra Hr\u00f6nn Nj\u00e1lsd\u00f3ttir.\nThe inspiration for the photographs in this book is sought in the famous novella, A\u00f0venta \u00e1 fj\u00f6llum (Advent \u2013 The Good Sheperd) by the Icelandic author Gunnar Gunnarsson (1889-1975). The book was first published in German in 1936 as Advent im Hochgebirge.<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Lj\u00f3smyndirnar sem pr\u00fd\u00f0a b\u00f3kina eru afrakstur n\u00edu vetrarfer\u00f0a h\u00f6fundanna um s\u00f6gusvi\u00f0i\u00f0 \u00e1 M\u00fdvatns\u00f6r\u00e6fum.<\/p>\n<p>While others prepare for the holy time of Christmas, the shepherd Benedikt and his two friends are out searching for lost sheep in the mountains, to bring them through deep snow and winter blizzards to safety. Sigurj\u00f3n\u2019s approach is to select 120 phrases and sentences from the novella, and then choose a location, date, and time for each photograph with relevance to the quotations.
